We recommend that you arrange your flight plans to leave from one of the major airports in South Africa and fly to Skukuza Airport where you will be met by your safari guide. There are daily flights and they are quick and efficient.

The safari guide will attend to all your entry requirements at the main gate. Before you enter the Park you will be given a quick briefing by the lead safari guide who will explain the rules and protocols in the Park and after this I will help you get your camera gear set up and ready for your first photo. Wild animals are very unpredictable and you can expect to see animals as soon as you leave the airport’s exit gate!

A Word on the Safari Guides

Driving in the bush

Our guides are not just drivers. They have to be professionally qualified and registered as field guides with the Field Guides Association of Southern Africa (FGASA). We want you to experience the real ‘Africa’ and so he or she will not only stop at animal and bird sightings but will also share his or her knowledge of the flora and geology in the areas that you visit.

The Kruger Park , for example, has seven geological zones. The base rock in a zone will determine the type of soil that will be formed and hence the vegetation that will grow. This drives the kind of browsing or grazing animals and in turn which kind of predators are likely to be attracted.

It is all connected!!!

Sample Itinerary Day on Safari:

Early morning wake up and coffee or tea with rusks. We leave the camp at first light when camp gates open. (Times vary from 04:30 am in summer to 06:00 am in winter). This is optional and different times can be arranged.

Enjoying coffee and rusks and a magnificent morning view

To make the best of the morning we will be stopping for a late brunch around 10:00 to 10:30 at a picnic site.

Anything can happen at a picnic site! This is a visit from one of the local warthogs!

After brunch we head out again and see what we can find.

At around noon we can return to camp to take a break for lunch or, depending on where our route has taken us, we can stop in at another rest camp for lunch.

After lunch and a rest we are on the road again. The African sunset is always amazing and we spend some time with different backgrounds to get a great shot.

Back at camp, after the gate closes, we meet for dinner and you have the opportunity to review your photos and ask questions. We suggest an early bedtime to get ready for the next day, which can start early in the morning.
